Kolon Life Science’s Invossa, a gene therapy drug to treat osteoarthritis, is given another chance to restore its reputation after a Seoul court last weekend ruled against health authorities’ decision in 2019 to take back 8.2 billion won ($71.2 million) R&D grant money due to the ingredient mix-up during Invossa development, which later led to the drug’s license cancellation at home. The court said the company conducted its gene therapy research project in good faith, and the research is not deemed a failure. The company is also given a second chance to prove the validity of Invossa in the United States in April last year.
