A consortium between South Korea’s Hanwha Defense and U.S.-based Oshkosh Defense has been selected as one of five prime contractor teams for the concept design phase of U.S. Army’s Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle (OMFV) project worth $47 billion to replace M2 Bradley troop carriers with a transformational war machine. The Oshkosh-Hanwha team will carry out conceptual research and design over the next 15 months and take part in another open competition in 2023 for the next phase of prototype development. The final winning bidder will be announced in late 2027.
