European soccer's increased popularity amongst Thais

Even though Muay Thai is the national sport in Thailand, European soccer has grown in popularity among Thais, particularly the English Premier League, which is by the most popular, and also the Spanish La Liga. Following Thai-owned Leicester City FC win of the FA Cup has certainly fueled the Premier League's popularity in the country. It is very common to see Thais wearing T-shirts of their favorite soccer clubs, either at neighborhood matches among friends, walking in the street or driving a tuk-tuk. In pre-pandemic times, most bars used to show European soccer matches on their TV screens with some clients wearing their favorite soccer team T-shirts, but now they are closed due to COVID-19.
