Korea’s natural population decline continued for 18th straight month in April with monthly newborn count dipping to 22,820, a record low for April. Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki on his Facebook page warned Korea may face “age-quake,” or sudden decline in population, as early as in 10 years’ time and called for actions to be taken to support both qualitative and quantitative improvements of working wage population to buttress the economy.
