South Korea’s SK Global Chemical Co. has acquired a 10 percent stake in Canadian recycling technology company Loop Industries for $56.5 million and plans to set up a joint venture with Loop Industries in 2022 to build a waste PET processing plant with an annual capacity of 84,000 tons at home by 2023 and additional processing facilities in four Asian regions by 2030 that can process 400,000 tons of waste PET per year, using Canadian firm’s sustainable PET plastic and polyester fiber upcycling and manufacturing technology.
