Seoul to simplify hydrogen charging station setup for hydrogen push

Hydrogen charging stations could be installed upon a simple documental filing with the environment ministry from July, according to revised law on air pollution in Korea.

Under the change, a stamp of approval from the environment minister would license a business to install hydrogen charging station. To facilitate the process, the environment ministry will bring on umbrella institutions for technological review and hold seminars for business operators and local governments for management and supervision.

The deregulation is a part of the government’s initiative to promote hydrogen to meet its carbon neutrality goal.

It aims to install 2,000 hydrogen charging stations across the country so that the green fuel will become responsible for 80 percent of energy sourcing by 2050.
