CU convenience store selling tteokbokki and Korea’s other iconic street foods has become a local sensation in Malaysia after its first outlet in the Southeast Asian country drew more than 1,000 customers on average daily since its opening on April 1. Crowds made long lines to experience Korean culture through foods seen in TV shows, dramas and movies at the first CU store in Malaysia, 60% of its shelves packed with Halal-certified Korean-taste products for Muslim consumers.
