Hanwha Engineering & Construction, or Hanwha E&C, on May 4th declared it would raise awareness on safety practices in the workplace to prevent accidents.

Proclamation ceremonies were simultaneously held at 57 of Hanwha E&C’s worksites across the country and attended by senior executives including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Choi Koang-ho. Hanwha E&C’s chief safety officer was also present, along with representatives from partner companies and of workers.

Representatives for each worksite and CEO Choi declared to create fatality-free working environments, followed by the partner companies’ announcement to join in the action.

To prioritize workers’ health and safety, Hanwha E&C incorporated smart safety technology, such as smart mobile CCTV, and enabled employees to request temporary halts or refuse to carry out work when there might be a high-risk of accident.

Moreover, the company has implemented a mobile safety management system dubbed Hanwha Safety Eagle Eye (HS2E) since 2017.

HS2E, a self-developed safety management system of Hanwha E&C, provides a platform for workers to take pictures when facing a dangerous situation and send it to other employees at Hanwha E&C and its partners, ensuring fast communication and response. The company is planning to further upgrade the HS2E system and encourage employees to actively participate.

Hanwha E&C will also enhance support in safety education for its employees and partner companies through various measures, such as the ESH – environment, safety and health – Academy and safety education videos.

“There were no fatal accidents at our worksites last year, thanks to the collective effort of our workers and management,” CEO Choi of Hanwha E&C said.

“As safety is the first and foremost priority, Hanwha E&C will continue to keep fatalities at zero no matter what.”
