South Korea’s KCC Glass said Thursday its board has decided to build a glass production plant in Batang, Indonesia, which will be the company’s first overseas manufacturing plant.

The new plant to be completed in 2024 will be built on a site of 490,000 square meters will roll out about 438,000 tons of sheet glass for commercial use to be sold in Indonesia and other Southeast Asian markets.

KCC Glass expects the Indonesian factory to speed up its advance into overseas markets beyond domestic supply.

The Southeast Asian construction market is growing fast with an annual growth rate two times higher than that of the global construction market.

The company aims to gradually expand local production to grow it as a comprehensive glass cluster for overseas markets.

KCC Glass is scheduled to have a groundbreaking ceremony on May 20.
