Drivers must keep 50km/h (31 miles) on all inroads and downtown roads across Korea under a revised act. The speed limit has been expanded to all roads except highways to reduce fatal pedestrian accidents after implementing the rule on a trial basis in Seoul and Busan. Some roads will be limited to 60 kilometers per hour to improve traffic flow but residential streets and school zones will be limited to 30 kilometers per hour.
