International Roma Day - ethnic Roma actrress Alina Serban

Serban won the Best Actress Award at the 2020 German Actors Guild Awards for her leading role in 'Gipsy Queen,' and was Romania's representative at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival for her leading role in 'Alone at My Wedding'.

The International Roma Day, celebrated each year on 08 April, celebrates Romani culture and raises awareness on Roma people's rights. Europe counts about 12 million Roma people, half of whom are EU citizens, with the Roma community being Europe's largest ethnic minority. EPA/ROBERT GHEMENT
