Director Lee Isaac Chung’s “Minari” (2020), which won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film on Monday, is also currently the most pre-booked film in Korea according to the Korean Film Council.

Twenty-five percent of movie theater tickets for “Minari” have been booked as of Monday, an impressive rate considering that the number of Korean moviegoers has plummeted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

One of the film’s lead actors Han Ye-ri will also appear on the tvN entertainment show “On & Off” on Tuesday at 10:30 p.m., giving viewers an insight into how she conducts video interviews with international news outlets and promotes “Minari” with co-star Youn Yuh-jung.

She will also share her everyday life as a Korean traditional dancer, her other profession.

“Minari” tells the story of a Korean-American family trying to settle in 1980s rural Arkansas and is based on the director’s personal life.

The film has won more than 70 accolades so far, including three nominations for this April’s Screen Actors Guild Awards.
