South Korea reported 396 new cases of COVID-19 on Feb. 25, seeing a decrease in the number of cases from the previous day.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), 369 of the cases were domestic transmissions while the remaining 27 were imported from overseas. The country’s cumulative total is now 88,516. The daily caseload, which went above 600 in the days following the extended Lunar New Year holiday, has gone down this week to the 300-400 range. The daily caseload has moved from 561 to 396 over the past week.

The greater Seoul area accounted for 268 of the cases: 114 in Seoul, 132 in Gyeonggi Province and 22 in Incheon. The remaining 101 occurred throughout other parts of the country. Among the 27 cases from overseas, 10 were detected during airport screening procedures, and the remaining 17 were confirmed while patients were in quarantine. Seven of the overseas patients were foreign nationals, and 20 were South Korean nationals.

The number of patients undergoing treatment or in quarantine decreased by 46 to 7,448. The number of patients in severe or critical condition increased by four to 144. The cumulative death toll increased by five to 1,581.
