Chinese New Year is the time of the world’s largest human migration. Hundreds of millions of people travel back to their hometowns to celebrate and spend time with their families. In recent weeks China has seen small outbreaks of COVID-19 locally transmitted cases. Due to the government travel restrictions, there are not many people to be seen in the Shanghai railway station and the airport. According to China’s National Health Commission, people who are going back home need to have a negative COVID-19 test issued up to seven days before departure, 14 days quarantine time, or home observation and testing every seven days.
