Two jaguar cubs, only three and a half months old, were rescued from a house in the Sandy Bay community, in northern Nicaragua, after being offered for illegal sale while the mother was shot and killed by villagers. The male and female jaguars were underweight when they were rescued. The director of the National Zoo, Eduardo Sacasa, became aware of the case after seeing a publication on social networks where the baby jaguars were offered for illegal sale for a price of 400 US dollar.
