Tottenham Hotspur may not have any matches scheduled this week, but Son Heung-min is still making headlines. The Korean striker's documentary "Sonsational" was released, Spurs launched a new Korean-language Twitter account and the social network marked the occasion with an exclusive Son emoji.

The "Sonsational" documentary, released on Amazon Prime in Britain on Monday, is a collaboration between Korean studio CJ ENM and British company Zig Zag Productions. The feature-length documentary was based on the 2019 documentary series "Sonsational: The Making of Son Heung-min" released on tvN in Korea.

"Sonsational" follows Son's life in 2019, the year he was nominated for the Ballon d’Or, and features interviews with some of football's biggest names, including Thierry Henry and Mauricio Pochettino, as well as journalists and commentators.

But while the documentary helped cement Son's legend, Spurs' decision to launch a Korean-language Twitter account has plenty of British fans excited as well.

"Tottenham Hotspur has today launched a new Korean Twitter account to further engage its growing fanbase in the homeland of one of the club’s star players," the club said in a statement. "The club is currently the most watched and best-supported overseas soccer team in Korea, with thousands having travelled to North London to watch the team in action in recent years."

The decision to launch the Korean page this week, amid rumors that Son is close to signing a lucrative new deal with the club, has some fans and analysts speculating that the move means the new contract will be announced shortly. Son is currently contracted until 2023, but there have been reports recently that he is close to signing a new deal with Tottenham to extend his tenure at the club and increase his salary.

Spurs are also reportedly interested in Korean defender Kim Min-jae, currently of Beijing Guoan.

To mark the launch of Spurs' new Korean page, Twitter unveiled a special Son emoji that is automatically added to five different hashtags mentioning the player — #Sonny, #NiceOneSonny, #HeungMinSon, as well as Tottenham Hotspur and Son Heung-min written in Korean.
