Calls are mounting for the punishment of producers and distributors of deepfake porn, manipulated pornographic videos and photos, involving female celebrities without their consent.

여성 연예인들의 동의 없이 그들의 얼굴이 담긴 딥페이크 영상, 조작된 포르노 영상과 사진 등의 제작자와 이를 유통하는 사람들을 처벌해야 한다는 목소리가 높아지고 있다.

Deepfake content refers to images, videos or audio that have been manipulated using machine learning and artificial intelligence. A growing number of digital sex crimes have been committed using this technology by portraying the victim's face in pornographic content.

딥페이크 콘텐츠는 머신러닝과 인공지능(AI)을 사용하여 조작한 이미지, 비디오, 오디오를 말한다. 이 기술을 사용해 포르노 콘텐츠에 피해자의 얼굴을 입힘으로써 점점 더 많은 디지털 성범죄가 저질러지고 있다.

A public petition filed Wednesday on Cheong Wa Dae's official website demanding thorough investigation and strong punishment on the issue has garnered over 330,000 signatures over a single day.

수요일 청와대 공식 웹사이트에 딥페이크 영상에 대한 철저한 조사와 강력한 처벌을 요구하는 국민청원이 게시되며 하루 동안 33만명이 넘는 동의를 받았다.

The presidential office gives an official response to petitions that gather more than 200,000 endorsements in 30 days.

청와대는 30일 동안 20만건 이상의 동의를 받은 청원에 대해 공식적인 답변을 한다.

The petitioner wrote that pornographic content falsely portraying female celebrities can be easily found on social media and internet websites.

이 청원자는 여성 연예인들을 합성한 포르노 콘텐츠는 소셜미디어와 인터넷 웹사이트에서 쉽게 찾을 수 있다고 썼다.

"Deepfake porn is evidently a sex crime. Many female celebrities are suffering as a result of this content, which are being illegally sold online," read the petition, demanding tough punishment for producers, distributors and consumers of such content.

"딥페이크 포르노물은 명백한 성범죄다. 온라인에서 불법적으로 팔리고 있는 이 콘텐츠로 인해 많은 여자 연예인들이 고통을 받고 있다"는 내용의 해당 청원은 딥페이크 콘텐츠의 제작자, 유통자, 소비자들에게 엄중한 처벌을 요구했다.

The writer added that there were a total of 14,768 deepfake porn videos worldwide as of October 2020 and the number is rapidly increasing, citing a report released by Deeptrace, a Dutch cybersecurity lab.

청원인은 네덜란드의 사이버 보안연구 업체 딥트레이스가 발표한 보고서를 인용해 2020년 10월 기준 전 세계적으로 총 14,768개의 딥페이크 포르노 영상이 있으며 그 수가 빠르게 증가하고 있다고 덧붙였다.

According to the report, about 25 percent of victims of the fake videos were found to be K-pop singers.

해당 보고서에 따르면, 딥페이크 영상 피해자 중 약 25%가 K팝 가수인 것으로 나타났다.
