South Korea’s Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a 20-year jail term and a fine of 18 billion won on former President Park Geun-hye over bribery and other charges that got her ousted in 2017, marking an end to the corruption scandal that broke out more than four years ago. Park will serve a combined 22 years in prison including two years in a separate conviction for being meddling in the former Saenuri Party’s candidate nominations in 2016.
