Samsung Electronics Co. on Tuesday revealed its first premium 5G-integrated mobile processor chip built on the latest 5-nanometer extreme ultraviolet process node that would power upcoming flagship phone Galaxy 21 series with 30 percent faster speed in multi-core tasks.

According to the company, the Exynos 2100, built on an advanced 5nm EUV process technology, consumes 20 percent less power while boasting 10 percent higher performance compared with its 7nm predecessor, enabling a sharp improvement in CPU performance.

The latest Mali-G78 graphics processing unit also helps improve Exynos’ graphic performance by more than 40 percent, creating visually stunning graphics to support immersive on-screen experience for gaming and AR/VR applications, it added.

“Our Exynos team has been committed to creating premium mobile computing experiences by bringing innovations to processors that are at the heart of today’s smart devices,” Inyup Kang, president of System LSI Business at Samsung Electronics, said in a company news release. “Today we are delighted to introduce the Exynos 2100, our most advanced mobile processor yet. Armed with powerful processing technologies and an advanced 5G modem on a power-efficient 5nm process node, Exynos 2100 will set a new standard for tomorrow’s flagship mobile devices.”

The Exynos 2100 also supports enhanced AI capabilities. It can perform up to 26-trillion-operations-per-second (TOPS) with more than twice the power efficiency than the previous generation. This allows users to enjoy more interactive and smart features as well as enhanced computer vision performance in applications such as imaging.

The Exynos 2100 would be mounted on Samsung’s new flagship smartphone Galaxy S21 to be unveiled in the U.S. on Thursday.

Shares in Samsung Electronics closed down 0.99 percent at 89,700 won ($81.88) on Wednesday.
