The Korean stock markets stayed unfazed by the deadly disturbance at the U.S. Capitol Hill, with Kospi closing above 3,000 mark for the first time after a single-day breather as institutions shifted to massive buying for a push to the new milestone. Kospi ended Thursday 2.1% higher at 3,031.68 and Kosdaq also moves closer to 1,000 threshold after finishing 0.8% up at 988.86. Large-cap stocks touched new highs from institutional joining. Samsung Electronics at a fresh high of 82,900 won, 0.9% up, and LG Electronics 9% higher a day before they release fourth-quarter and 2020 earnings guidance. SK Hynix and LG Chem also at respective new highs of 134,500 won and 962,000 won.
