Jan.11: After numerous attempts to hold a recital were canceled amid the coronavirus, pianist Sunwook Kim is giving it another go to hold it at the Lotte Concert Hall, southern Seoul, presenting several Beethoven pieces including "Andante Favori WoO 57" as well as "Piano Sonata No. 30, Op. 109," "Piano Sonata No. 31, Op. 110" and "Piano Sonata No. 32, Op. 111."

Although Kim was going to debut as a conductor last year, the pianist decided to postpone the career move as well and only perform on the piano for the upcoming recital.

Kim's passion for Beethoven was acknowledged when he was invited to perform at a concert to celebrate the birth of Beethoven in 2012. Kim was also the first beneficiary of the Beethoven monitoring program in 2013 and was given access to the composer's hand-written documents for further studies.

The concert starts at 8 p.m.

Tickets range from 30,000 won ($27) to 100,000 won.

ADIOS PIAZZOLA: LIVE TANGO Lotte Concert Hall

Jan. 31: Tango dance and music lovers can look forward to "Adios Piazzola: Live Tango" at the Lotte Concert Hall in southern Seoul. Stomp Music has been organizing this sell-out show every year since 2016, providing Argentine tango milonga for Korean audiences.

Two tango dance couples Sebastian Acosta and Laura D’Anna and Miguel Calvo and Pelin Calvo will take to the stage while the Tango Band together with bandoneon player Koh Sang-ji provide the music.

The program includes various tango music familiar to Korean tango fans’ ears, including “Oblivison,” “Libertango,” “Adios Nonino,” “Chin Chin” and “Double Concerto,” among many others.

The show begins at 5 p.m.

Tickets range from 38,500 won to 75,000 won.

MR. TROT Kintex Exhibition Center, Hall 5

Feb. 5-7:The popular "Mr. Trot" tour that came to a halt amid the hike in coronavirus cases in the country will resume next month, making one stop in Daegu and finishing in Ilsan, Gyeonggi, in February.

The top six singers of the trot competition show that aired on cable channel TV Chosun will take the stage for the concert while the other 12 contestants will take turns appearing as special guests.

The concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets range from 99,000 won to 121,000 won.

THE STUDENT AND MR. HENRI Yes 24 Stage

Through Feb. 14: When Constance decides to depart her hometown against her father's will in order to pursue her studies at the University of Paris, she has no choice but to live with a grumpy, arrogant and ill-tempered old man named Mr. Henri.

Failing to abide by Mr. Henri's countless rules and missing her rent's due date, Constance and Mr. Henri strike a deal that allows her to stay, albeit with consequences. The popular long-running play "The Student and Mr. Henri," based on Ivan Calbérac's book and play of the same name, is currently being staged at the Yes 24 Stage.

Mr. Henri is alternately portrayed by veteran actors Lee Sun-jae and Shin-goo while Yuri of Girls' Generation, Park So-dam and Chae Soo-bin alternate the role of Constance.

The show begins at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays; at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays; and at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on weekends and public holidays. There are no shows on Mondays.

Admission ranges from 50,000 won to 65,000 won.

Jan. 29-31: Rock band Jaurim, which was planning to hold a concert last year, has postponed it to January.

Currently composed of singer Kim Yoon-ah, bassist Kim Jin-man and guitarist Lee Sun-kyu, the trio released an EP this year titled "HOLA!"

The group, which debuted in 1997, has been working on their 11th studio album, writing "rather heavy and gloomy songs," according to the band's agency Interpark Entertainment.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, at 6 p.m. on Saturday and at 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets range from 110,000 won to 132,000 won.

Through Jan. 31: The musical “Duet” is returning for the first time in 13 years after it was last performed on home soil in 2007.

Based on the Broadway musical “They’re Playing Our Song,” it depicts a romantic relationship between top composer Vernon and newbie lyric writer Sonia, who is longing for success.

The pair share few things in common, but they happen to write a song together. The musical focuses on the rocky relationship between the two and how they eventually fall for each other.

Musical actors Park Gun-hyung and Park Young-su alternate the role of Vernon while singer-actor J-Min and musical actor Moon Jin-ah are double cast for the role of Sonia.

The musical starts at 8 p.m. from Tuesdays to Fridays; 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on weekends. There are no shows on Mondays.

Tickets range from 50,000 won to 70,000 won.

SWAG AGE: SINGING, JOSEON! Seoul Arts Center, CJ Towol

Through Feb. 28: The work is set in the fictional Joseon Dynasty era, which calls for Zijo as a national ideology.

The Korean original musical, directed by Woo Jin-ha with screenplay by Park Chang-min, premiered in 2019 and immediately won an ensemble award at the 8th Yegreen Musical Awards.

Tickets range from 55,000 won to 99,000 won.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays; at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. There are no shows on Mondays.
