Hyundai Motor’s G80 sedan under its luxury spinoff brand Genesis was named as the safest car this year by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, beating out 10 other domestic and foreign models on the top sales list, including its segment rival Mercedes Benz E-Class. G80 received the highest 97.3 points, followed by GV80, Carnival, Trail Blazer, and Avante. In between January and November, Hyundai Motor sold 49,420 G80 units, up 140 percent from the same period last year, taking up more than half of total Genesis sales of 96,084 units.
