Third-generation family members take key roles at LS Group

LS Group announced its annual human resources reshuffle for the 2021 business year on Tuesday. The company said in a statement that the leaders of major affiliates will remain in office next year, including LS Cable & System, LS Electric and LS-Nikko Copper.

“Maintaining stability and minimizing change in the organization were a big focus in this annual reshuffle,” the company said. “While the big streak was maintaining the current structure, we appointed next-generations leaders for several subsidiaries as a way to prepare for the future.”

A total of 31 senior executives were promoted among top management-level positions.

Koo Bon-hyuck, the 43-year-old son of the late LS-Nikko Copper Chair Koo Ja-Myung was named president and CEO of Yesco Holdings. Yesco Holdings is an energy compay. Koo Bon-hyuck, whose father was the LS Group chairman's cousin, was formerly the senior executive vice president of the company.

Koo Bon-kyu, the son of LS Cable & System Chair Koo Cha-yub, was appointed CEO of LS Mtron. The 41-year-old, who is the nephew of the LS Group chairman, was previously the chief operating officer of the company.

LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-yeol's son Koo Dong-whi was also promoted to chief operating office of E1, a producer and distributor of liquefied petroleum gas.

Outside of the family, 58-year-old Jung Chang-si was also promoted to CEO of city gas company Yesco.
