Memorial service on 75th anniversary of Sandbostel PoW camp liberation

As the lockdown to prevent the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus causing the Covid-19 disease does not allow a ceremony to mark the 75th anniversary of the prisoner of war camp Stalag X B in Sandbostel, officials of the memorial site have decided to prepare a virtual ceremony to be broadcasted on 29 April 2020, 75 years after the camp was liberated by British troops. In autumn 1939, the first 3,000 prisoners of war from Poland were interned at the Sandbostel camp as forced laborers. Until the liberation, more than 50,000 PoW from many nations and inmates of concentration camps came to death in Sandbostel.
