Dave Loggins had the songwriting chops to soak in that moment in 1981 from his first time at Augusta Natioanl, write down some music and lyrics and then create one of the most beloved theme songs in sports history. It’s called “Augusta” and over nearly four decades it’s become ingrained in the CBS Masters broadcast. For many fans, the easy-flowing guitar and piano is one of the signals of spring.
