Samsung Elec to unveil windless air conditioner at CES

South Korea¡¯s leading home appliance maker Samsung Electronics Co. will showcase a windless wall-mount air conditioner at the upcoming CES event, world¡¯s largest tradeshow for consumer technology to be held in Las Vegas from January 5 to 8, the company said on Sunday.

The tech giant earlier this year launched a floor-standing wind-free air conditioner in South Korea and enjoyed a huge success. The through-the-wall version of the wind-free air conditioner, which is to be introduced for the first time at the CES, is expected to continue its success from the floor-standing unit, the company said.

The wall-mount wind-free air conditioner is designed to provide comfortable room temperature to users who want to avoid strong wind from the air conditioner. It dispenses cold air through 21,000 micro air holes, spreading cool air throughout rooms. It has employed a two-step cooling system that first chills down temperature fast then automatically switches to cooling down once desired room temperature is reached. The two-step cooling system also reduces total energy consumption by 72 percent compared to running on fast cooling mode alone, according to the company.

In addition, the air conditioner's unique triangular-shaped architecture allows more air to be drawn in at once and discharging cool air faster and farther.

The wall-mount windless air conditioner also is wifi-compatible, allowing its user to control the appliance through Samsung¡¯s Smart Home app. Its user can adjust temperate, settings, and check performance and energy usage through the app.
