The 3rd International Electric Vehicle Expo kicked off at ICC Jeju, Jeju, Korea on Friday, attracting 145 carmakers and auto-parts companies including Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors, Renault Samsung, BMW and Nissan.

The event which will last until March 24 attracted two times more exhibitors from the year before, showing the industry’s greater attention to electric vehicles.

Hyundai Motor unveiled its first all-electric vehicle, the IONIQ Electric, with a bold plan to occupy more than half of the EV market in Korea. The car has an 88 kW (120 PS) electric motor with 295 Nm of torque and sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds, with a maximum speed of 165 km/h.
