North Korea introduces New Pyongyang Time

Reports on 07 August say that North Korea is set to push back its clocks by half an hour to mark the end of Japanese occupation after World War II. Clocks in North Korea will be moved back by 30 minutes as of 15 August, which marks the anniversary of Japan's surrender and the end of 35 years of Japanese occupation of the Korean peninsula, North Korea state media said, according to South Korean news agency Yonhap. The standard time in both North and South Korea is currently nine hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), a standard introduced by the Japanese occupiers, and the same time zone as Tokyo.
