Paul McCartney, a member of the legendary band the Beatles, will hold his much-anticipated first-ever concert in South Korea on Saturday.

The concert will take place at Seoul's Jamsil Stadium at 8 p.m. as part of his "Out There" world tour that began in Brazil in 2013.

The event has drawn much anticipation as the 72-year-old canceled his previous concert in Seoul due to health problems a year ago.

Upon arriving at Incheon International Airport on Friday night, the star received a warm welcome from some 500 fans and journalists.

According to the Seoul event's organizers, he was in good shape after successfully finishing a tour of Japan.

During the April 21-28 concerts in Japan, the veteran British musician surprised the audience by singing a total of 39 songs in a three-hour running time despite his old age.

They included both Beatles hits and his own: "Magical Mystery Tour," "Can't Buy Me Love," "Save Us," "Let Me Roll It," "Jet," "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five," "The Long and Winding Road," and "We Can Work It Out." He reportedly filled about two-thirds of the list with Beatles hits for Asian fans to whom he is best known as a Beatles member rather than a solo singer. He is anticipated to bring a similar set list to the Seoul concert.

About 98 percent of the 46,000 tickets available for the Seoul concert was already sold out, according to organizers, a reflection of local fans' high expectations for McCartney's first-ever concert in the country.(Yonhap)
