One Buddhist and one Muslim were killed and 14 people injured (13 Buddhists and one christian) in the second night of clashes, said Colonel Aung Kyaw Moe, boder affairs security minister for Mandalay division. The violence followed allegations that two Muslim brothers who own a teashop raped a Buddhist female member of staff at the weekend, media reports said. Police deployed more than 600 officers after a crowd of about 300 Buddhists including 30 monks began throwing stones near the tea shop late 01 July.
