Since June, 2011, when fighting broke out between the Myanmar military and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), an insurgency, an estimated 140,000 civilians in the northern Kachin state have been displaced and forced to live in temporary camps, many of them situated along the Myanmar-Chinese border.
