The two Italian marines who are on trial in India for allegedly killing two fishermen returned home by chartered flight early 22 December for a Christmas reprieve, reports said. Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone were arrested 19 February and are currently free on bail, but have had to remain in the port town of Kochi while the trial proceeded. The Kerala High Court gave them permission to return to Italy for two weeks to celebrate the Christmas holidays.
