Daum Tops $ 266.5 mn in Sales

Daum Communication Corp. topped 300 billion won ($266.5 million) in sales revenue last year, setting the company's highest performance yet. Quarterly sales for the final quarter also exceeded 100 billion won.

Daum revealed on Tuesday its fourth quarter (Q4) performance to be 11 billion won for sales revenue, 27.7 billion won for operating profit (OP), and 20.1 billion won for net profit. This marks a year-on-year growth of 36.3%, 73.1%, and 114.9%, respectively. Compared to the previous quarter, sales grew 17.2% while OP expanded 6.1%.

Search advertisement (ad) revenue grew 41.7% from last year and 8.2% from the previous quarter to hit 49.6 billion won. Display ad returns rose 36.5% from the same period last year and 28.5% from the previous quarter to post 46.7 billion won. Revenue from other forms of transactions made a slight contraction (3.9%) from the previous year, but rose 17.5% from the previous quarter to record 4.7 billion won.

Daum's annual sales revenue last year grew 41.3% from the previous year to post 345.5 billion won, an all time high. Aggregate proceeds for the year from search-based ads grew 44.1% to record 179.6 billion won, while income from display ads grew 42.6% to reach 149.5 billion won. OP for 2010 soared 119.8% from 2009 to hit 97.9 billion won, while net income grew by a whopping 260.3% to post 112.0 billion won.
