< yonhapPHOTO-1202 > (100620) -- HEFEI, June 20, 2010 (Xinhua) -- Photo taken on June 19, 2010 shows the thick layers of cyanophyceae, or the blue-green algae, which runs rampant and stinks on the eutrophicated surface of Caohu Lake, at the estuary of Nanfeihe River into the Caohu Lake, in Hefei City, east China's Anhui Province. Shrinkage and degradation of lakes and deterioration of water quality and ecological functions of lakes are the major problems threatening China's lakes, and most of them are in a severe eutrophication state.
