In this time of recession and economic slump, thousands of Thai Buddhist devotees each day pay 180 Thai baht (5 US$ or 3.8 euro) for attend the resurrection ritual to lie down into the coffins with bunch of flowers as monks pass a white cloth over the coffins, chant a dirge for the symbolic death then rise up again believing that they are cleansed of their karma and reborn for a fresh start in life with protection from harm, wealthy, good health and their wishes completely fulfilled.
