At least fifty Bangladeshi army officers were feared dead as thousands of the border guards attacked and killed them inside the BDR headquarters on 25 February 2009. Police officers have entered the BDR compound and taken control of the main entrance, apparently ending a 33-hour mutiny while several tanks and armoured vehicles move closing in on the Bangladesh Rifles Headquarters in the heart of the city where hundreds of armed rebels were holding on.
