Tokyo Electric Power Co admitted Tuesday that it had detected radioactive material leakage from the reactor No 7 at its Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant, one day after the powerful earthquake that hit the northern region of Niigata. According to Jiji Press, the company claimed the level of leakage was under the legal limit. At the reactor No 2, 800 liters of oil for water pump turbines also leaked out. The government ordered the company to suspend operations of all seven nuclear reactors in Kashiwazaki Tuesday after it failed to respond appropriately to a fire and a radioactive leak at its plant following the quake. The reactor No. 2 is the second building from the left. NO THIRD PARTY ARCHIVING FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY CREDIT EPA / JAPAN COAST GUARD/HO EPA/JAPAN COAST GUARD
