[LEAD]

K-pop is off to a powerful start in the new year.

Global hitmakers are returning with major albums and large-scale performances, fueling the worldwide K-pop wave.

[REPORT]
Global K-pop group BTS have chosen Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung Palace as the sites for their anticipated return as a full member act.

The Korea Heritage Service, through deliberations, has conditionally approved BTS' performance in the Gwanghwamun area.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government will also review the issue and make a final decision on whether to allow the event.

After 3 years and 9 months, BTS are making a comeback with all members.

Their upcoming full-length album to be unveiled in March is titled 'Arirang'.

Girl group BLACKPINK, marking their 10th debut anniversary, have also announced a comeback next month.

They are expected to reveal a new album titled 'Deadline' next month, their first in three years and five months since their second studio album in 2022.

Ahead of the new album, BLACKPINK have been on a world tour since July last year, holding 33 concerts across 16 cities worldwide.
