President Lee Jae Myung today laid out his policy direction for the year ahead.

At a New Year's press conference at Cheong Wa Dae, he outlined plans for a fundamental overhaul of Korea's growth strategy.

At the New Year’s press conference held in Cheong Wa Dae, President Lee Jae Myung revealed the blueprint for his second year in office, which called for a great change in the nation’s growth strategy.

He presented a regionally driven growth plan and stressed ongoing regional integration of the Daejeon and Chungcheongnam-do and the Gwangju and Jeollanam-do areas is a national survival strategy that must succeed.

I promise you right here. The direction of regional integration will never be wavered by political advantages or disadvantages.

He added that the September 19th Inter-Korean Military Agreement should be restored to prevent accidental cross-border clashes and build political and military trust that brings stable growth backed by peace.

The sharp frigidity would not be thawed all at once, but I'll consistently implement feasible measures to generate favorable responses from the North and ease tension on the Korean Peninsula.

To ensure growth in which opportunities and outcomes everyone can enjoy are produced, he vowed to steadily disclose detailed policies that would spark a new fervor for startups and venture firms.

He also vowed to bring about safety-based and culture-led growth.

Regarding the prosecution’s supplementary investigative rights and the details of prosecutorial reform, the president explained legal and institutional adjustments would be made to minimize confusion and adverse side effects, but he would never waver from ensuring reforms.

I will abide by the intent of reform until the end and design the most responsible solutions according to the people’s will so that it would improve people's lives.

President Lee said real estate tax regulations would not be used if possible, but there is also no reason to refrain from using them.

He will soon announce realistic supply expansion plans.
