[LEAD]
South Korean Marines have begun winter warfare training in extreme cold conditions.

The drills include covert infiltration across snow-covered terrain, precision sniping, and the use of small suicide drones.

They lie on the snow-covered ground with their torsos bared.

They sprint up slippery, snow-covered slopes at full speed.

Starting early this month, the Marine Corps Special Reconnaissance Brigade has begun a two-month winter cold-weather training program.

It marks the unit’s first winter warfare training since its formation last July.

The marines then move notedly into their winter mission-specific drills.

They covertly infiltrate enemy territory while maintaining vigilance.

When faced with a sudden enemy attack, they quickly take cover behind trees.

Using multifunctional binoculars, they accurately track enemy movements from a distance.

For targets difficult to neutralize with firearms, they rapidly deploy suicide drones fitted with small explosives.

The marines also conduct snowfield maneuver drills on skis.

They successfully carry out casualty evacuation missions as well.

If it doesn’t work, we will keep pushing until it does.
We will become stronger Marines, fully devoted to defending the nation.

About 360 marines from the South Korean brigade and some 300 U.S. Marines took part in the exercise.

The training enhanced their ability to penetrate deep into enemy rear areas during wartime operations.

Cheers for a Marine Corps trusted by the people.
