Stranded boats set for recovery after canal collapse in Whitchurch

Several canal boats were left stranded on the canal bed after the embankment failed on 22 December 2025. The breach caused millions of gallons of water to spill onto neighboring fields, leaving two boats stranded in the hole and another hanging dangerously over the edge.
