Singapore's PM Wong removes Pritam Singh as Leader of the Opposition

Workers' Party chief Pritam Singh has been removed as the Leader of the Opposition on 15 January 2026. According to a statement by Singapore's Prime Minister Wong, the decision was necessary to uphold the rule of law and the integrity of Parliament after a majority of lawmakers voted that Singh was unsuitable to continue in the role following his conviction for lying to a parliamentary committee.
