Tongyang to build urban AI data centers in Bucheon, Incheon

Tongyang Inc., a construction parts manufacturer under South Korea’s Eugene Group, said on Wednesday that it will build two urban artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, aiming to make a full-scale leap into becoming an infrastructure platform company.

Tongyang plans to build AI data centers in two locations – Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province and Namdong District in Incheon. Construction at both sites is scheduled to begin in the first half of this year, with completion targeted for 2028.

The AI data center to be built in Bucheon will occupy a site area of 3,593 square meters and consist of two basement levels and four above-ground floors.

It will have a total floor area of 10,736 square meters and a power capacity of about 9.8 megawatts. The facility will feature a high-density design optimized for AI computing environments, with stability of power supply and operational efficiency set as key criteria.

Tongyang plans to operate the AI data center as a standard model for future expansion of data centers across the Seoul metropolitan area and other major hubs.

In Namdong District, Tongyang will build the Incheon Guwol IA Hub Center, with a site area of 2,016 square meters, two basement levels and nine above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 10,839 square meters. The facility is designed as an urban, office-expansion-type AI data center.

Leveraging strong urban accessibility and an ultra-low-latency system environment, it is planned to serve as the headquarters of a hub-based data center network that Tongyang will develop going forward.

Although the two facilities are in different locations, Tongyang said they will be operated as a single infrastructure through an integrated network and data systems, enabling ultra-low-latency services across the two sites.
