Korean Deputy PM emphasizes mineral recycling to stabilize supply chain

Recycling critical minerals is essential to restoring global supply chain stability, according to Koo Yun-cheol, South Korea’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Koo attended the G7 Finance Ministers’ Meeting on Critical Minerals held in Washington D.C., where participants discussed international cooperation measures to stabilize supply chains.

The meeting was attended by ministerial-level officials from the G7 member countries – the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy – as well as from Korea, India, Australia, the European Union, and Mexico.

Koo introduced Korean companies with capabilities in refining and processing critical minerals, noting that “there is a need to strengthen global value chain linkages based on comparative advantages between countries.”

“We should create platforms for cooperation so that companies can pursue tangible, project-based collaboration,” he added.
