(Hotel Shilla)
South Korea’s Hotel Shilla Co. announced on Tuesday that it will open its upscale lifestyle hotel, Shilla Monogram, in Xi’an, China, on February 2.

While Hotel Shilla has previously operated hotels in China under management contracts, this marks its first entry into the country under its own brand.

Shilla Monogram is Hotel Shilla’s brand designed to offer resort-style hotel experiences that reflect local culture and lifestyle.

The brand debuted in Da Nang, Vietnam, in 2020 and in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, in Korea, last year.

With the opening in Xi’an this year, Hotel Shilla is expected to expand the brand’s footprint into Greater China.

Shilla Monogram Xi’an is a 22-story property with 264 guest rooms.

All rooms offer views of Xi’an’s cityscape and surrounding natural scenery.

To accommodate a wide range of stays, including business and leisure travel, Hotel Shilla designed the rooms to be larger than those at other Shilla Monogram properties.

The hotel also features three restaurants –a Korean restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, and an all-day dining venue – as well as a lounge, indoor swimming pool, sauna, fitness center, and other amenities.

The Korean and Chinese restaurants each have approximately 80 seats and include private rooms to meet demand for business meetings and group customers.

The Korean restaurant at the hotel is the only dedicated Korean restaurant in Xi’an, offering traditional Korean cuisine.

Hotel Shilla said the opening comes as travel demand to China increased following the introduction of visa-free entry for Korean nationals.

Xi’an is a historic city and the starting point of the Silk Road, boasting numerous cultural heritage sites including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor and the Terracotta Army.

The city is also home to many global companies, generating strong demand from both business and leisure travelers.

Hotel Shilla plans to open additional Shilla Monogram properties in Yancheng, China, and Hanoi, Vietnam.
