Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy Z TriFold, a dual-folding smartphone unveiled earlier this month, is exceeding expectations, with a string of sellouts both at home and abroad.

According to industry sources on Tuesday, the Galaxy Z TriFold has been launched initially in five markets, including Korea, as well as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Singapore, Taiwan, and China.

Although it has not yet been officially released in the United States, interest in pre-orders there is reportedly rising.

In particular, major online shopping platforms in the UAE, Singapore, and Taiwan saw initial batch sell out just hours after pre order sales began. In China, where daily sales volumes are being capped, available units are selling out each day.

In Korea, all units prepared for launch day on December 12 sold out immediately, and a second restock on December 17 was also completely exhausted. A third restock is scheduled to take place in January.

The TriFold represents an evolution beyond the existing Galaxy Z Fold series, featuring a dual-folding form factor that blurs the line between smartphones and tablets.

When unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold offers a 10-inch display, while when folded it measures just 12.9 millimeters thick, making it the thinnest design in the Fold series to date.

Although initial reactions questioned whether the device would be too large or expensive, consumer response has been stronger than expected, with positive reviews spreading across social media and online communities, according to industry officials.

Samsung Electronics is seeking to capitalize on the momentum as the global foldable smartphone market continues to expand. Market research firm IDC forecasts worldwide foldable phone shipments will rise about 10 percent next year to 20.6 million units, with Samsung Electronics expected to retain more than half of the market.

Major tech outlets are highlighting the explosive demand for the TriFold in Korea. SamMobile and GSMArena both reported that the device sold out almost instantly upon launch, with even restocked units vanishing in just 2 minutes—an impressive feat given its premium price tag.
