In the wake of Coupang's massive data breach, the government is stepping up pressure on the company.

It has formed an unusual cross-ministerial task force, with multiple agencies launching a wide-ranging, close-up probe.

Breach of personal information of some 33 million customers.

Concerns over secondary damage grows while frustration mounts over irresponsible attitude and issues related to Coupang's working environment have also flared up following the data leak.

The government has eventually set up a task force comprising relevant ministries, headed by the second vice minister of Science and ICT.

Those include the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Fair Trade Commission, the National Intelligence Service and the National Police Agency.

It's an unprecedented response that deploys even the government's regulatory and intelligence agencies.

The government says that the Coupang incident is more than just a personal information leak, but rather a social crisis.

The task force will first focus on investigating the cause of the incident and determining liability.

It will also take stern measures against any violations revealed through the investigation.

The government announced that fundamental measures will be formulated to prevent secondary damage due to the data leak.
