The government has released its first report examining the quality of life among young adults.

The findings paint a bleak picture.

Three in ten young people say they have experienced burnout.

Levels of distrust in society are also significantly higher among this age group than the overall average.

This woman in her 20s has been living in isolation for four years.

A company broke its promise to hire her after an internship.

After failing to land a job repeatedly, she has grown helpless.

With all my plans ruined, I was not sure about what to do next.

Three out of ten young adults say that they felt burned out mentally and physically.

Over 70 percent cite career uncertainties and work-related stress as the reasons.

So I think that my efforts will not pay off.

In the age groups of those in their 20s and 30s, 50 percent and 49 percent expressed distrust in society, respectively.

It was higher than the average level across all age groups, which stands at 45.7 percent.

I think it is largely because of gender conflict and generational conflict.

Although those in power commit corruption, it takes too long for the truth to be found.

The distrust inevitably leads to less social participation by this group.

Their participation in volunteer work and donations, key indicators of social participation, was far below the overall average.

However, their voter turnout continues to rise.

They seem individualistic and defensive.
This makes them more cautious when dealing with other people.

In terms of life satisfaction felt by young people in their late teens and 30s, Korea ranked 31st among the 38 OECD member countries.
