LS Electric has secured its largest-ever extra-high-voltage transformer contract in North America, accelerating its push into the rapidly growing data center power market.

The company said on Wednesday that it signed a $312.04 million, roughly 460 billion won, contract with a major U.S. private electric utility to supply extra-high-voltage transformers—its biggest single deal of this kind to date.

Under the agreement, LS Electric will deliver transformers with a maximum capacity of 525 kilovolts (kV) to renewable power plants that will serve as the main electricity sources for large-scale data centers being built across the southeastern United States. Deliveries are scheduled from 2027 to 2029.

With this project, the company is expanding its product portfolio from its existing 115kV and 345kV transformers to the higher 525kV range. “The order came from an existing client that had already adopted LS Electric’s solutions and decided to scale up both voltage and volume,” an LS Electric official said. “As our track record grows in both distribution and transmission systems in the U.S., we expect to accelerate our expansion in data center power infrastructure.”

Following the new order, LS Electric’s backlog for extra-high-voltage transformers has now exceeded 2 trillion won. As of the third quarter, its total order backlog stood at around 4.1 trillion won, and the company expects further growth through the fourth quarter and into next year.
