Samsung C&T’s Beaker debuts Kaptain Sunshine in Korea

Beaker, the select shop platform under Samsung C&T Corp.’s fashion division, has opened the first store of the Japanese contemporary brand Kaptain Sunshine in Korea, the company said Monday.

Founded in 2013 by Kobe-born designer Shinsuke Kojima, Kaptain Sunshine produces all of its products in Japan.

The first standalone store opened at Shinsegae Department Store’s Gangnam branch in southern Seoul. Beaker plans to expand the brand’s presence by opening stores at other major department stores across the country.

The retailer will continue offering Kaptain Sunshine in its existing Beaker stores under a concept distinct from the standalone locations and will also feature a dedicated section for the brand on Samsung C&T’s online shopping platform, SSF Shop.

“We aim to make Kaptain Sunshine a leading premium menswear brand with broader appeal,” said Song Tae-geun, head of Beaker.
